Terms and Conditions when travelling by bus |
AMAT passengers shall comply with the rules and regulations set forth by the Company and by the staff in charge.
ADMISSION ON BUSES AND FINES
Getting into an AMAT bus is only allowed at the bus stops along the route.
If the stop is ‘upon request’ (a richiesta), passengers shall clearly and timely indicate their intention to get on/off the bus.
Entrance and exit are only allowed from the appropriate doors.
Passengers shall be holding a valid ticket (or subscription) and display it to the inspector requesting it.
Tickets shall be validated in the appropriate punching machines upon entering the first bus used.
Should the puncher be missing or out of order, the passenger shall personally write with a pen the date and starting time of the journey, or ask the staff, if available.
The ticket, once validated, becomes personal and non-transferable.
The validated ticket shall be kept all along the journey and it shall be displayed upon request by the staff in charge.
Passengers travelling without a ticket or with an irregular one, shall be given a fine of 52 €, besides the price of the ticket for the ride and any other extra expense incurred by the company for recuperating the credit.
The fine can be paid as follows:
- directly to the ticket inspector or within 60 days from the notification, at the AMAT office in via Alfonso Borrelli n.16, or,
- by mail form (bollettino postale) n°13961909 in the name of AMAT Palermo, specifying the number of the fine under ‘causale’.
Those who declare having a subscription but who will not display the relevant document shall be fined as above. The fine shall be reduced of 11.33 € by showing the personal subscription, regularly validated as to date and time previous to the control, at the AMAT subscription office, Via Alfonso Borrelli n.16, within the following 5 working days.

APPEAL
Transgressors are entitled to appeal against the fine within 30 days from the notification. In case the transgressor is under age, the appeal shall have to be filed by the parents or by whomever has their authority.
Appeals, exclusively in a written form, shall be addressed to:
AMAT Palermo S.p.A. Via Roccazzo n. 77 – 90135 Palermo.
The faculty is granted, however, to appeal to the competent ‘Giudice di Pace’ judge
FREE TRIPS
All members of the Carabinieri, of Public security, of Street Police, of Tax Police, as well as custody agents and the State Forestry staff are entitled to travel for free, only if on duty and wearing their uniform.
LOST SUBSCRIPTION CARDS
Should the holder of the subscription lose his/her card, s/he can get a copy for 2.50 €. The subscriber shall also submit the following to AMAT Palermo S.p.A: a copy of the loss report made at the competent Public Authorities; an ID picture and a written request for a copy of the document.
CHILDREN TRANSPORTATION
Children up to one meter tall, as long as not occupying a seat, shall be transported for free (maximum one child per each accompanying adult). Otherwise, they shall be provided with a valid ticket.
LUGGAGE TRANSPORTATION
Each passenger can transport just one piece of luggage or package not bigger in size than cm. 35x60x50 .
Also prams and folded pushchairs, small music instruments; fishing rods and hunting rifles, dismantled and kept in their case, shall be carried for free.
Bigger luggage or package, up to a maximum cm. 50X60X80 can be transported upon payment of a ticket for each piece.
The maximum number of pieces of luggage allowed is one per passenger.
ANIMAL TRANSPORTATION
No animal is allowed on board the buses, with the following exceptions:
The free transportation of the following is permitted:
a) muzzled guide dogs for the blinds;
b) small dogs carried in the arms, with a thick muzzle
c) other small animals kept in cages or other small containers.
RULES OF CONDUCT ON BOARD
Passengers shall not:
1) get on and/or off the bus while moving;
2) occupy more than one seat and obstruct the doorway areas without any special reason;
3) talk to the driver and hang around the driving area, thus disturbing the driving, nor hampering the hallway;
4) smoke cigarettes and/or cigars and bother the other passengers;
5) advertise or sell products;
6) litter, damage or break parts or pieces of the equipment on the bus;
7) get on board drunk or after having used drugs and the like;
8) use the stop request or the emergency door opening buttons without any need;
9) lean out of the windows, not even with the arms, nor throw anything from the bus.
The Company shall not be held responsible for accidents incurred by passengers who have not complied with the rules above.
Lost & Found
All items found on the buses and in the premises of the Company shall be sent to Via Roccazzo offices (tel: 091/350208) to be contacted at least 24 hours after the item has been lost. The items are kept by a person in charge and they are available to legitimate owners who make request, with all necessary information in order to identify the object itself.
Services guaranteed in case of strike
In case of strike, Amat Palermo S.p.A. guarantees all trips leaving at the beginning of the daily service until 9:30 a.m. and then from 5:30 p.m. to the end of the daily service.
Strikes shall be notified via local media.
